When you talk ‘banana republic screen jockeys' sinisterly playing havoc with interest rates and the ‘lil Aussie battler,' there is only one person who comes to mind – yes… Paul Keating.
From Bankstown boy to treasurer and ultimately to the Lodge in Canberra, Paul Keating has rarely been far from controversy and the headlines.
TradeFest (www.tradefest2007.com.au) has pulled off a major coup in gaining Mr. Keating's agreement to be a key speaker on the weekend May 5/6th in Sydney. He still makes headlines and TradeFest attendees will be exposed to a very special opportunity in hearing him elucidate his views on a range of economic and social issues that will face all of us in the years ahead. Mr. Keating has been noted as one of the great speech makers of our time and I am sure this appearance at TradeFest will be no exception in providing a lateral point of view.
Whatever your political persuasion few would disagree that Paul Keating has been one of our most erudite of politicians. On departing office he did not make a glad grab for board roles but rather retained a low key but highly regarded profile especially on matters of significant political, economic and social importance.
Sorry overseas readers we cannot offer you a comparable opportunity closer to home – at this point of time. For locals I look forward to seeing you at Tradefest 2007.
Enjoy the ride!
